In the field of mechanical manufacturing, cast iron parts are the basic component materials for equipment such as machine tools, presses, and injection molding machines. The machine bed, columns, worktable, slide and other components are made of gray cast iron, which maintains machining accuracy through its high rigidity and shock absorption. The body and base of the large press are also made of cast iron to withstand periodic impact loads.

In the field of power machinery, a large number of cast iron parts are used for the cylinder body, cylinder head, flywheel, flywheel housing, intake and exhaust pipes and other components of internal combustion engines. The diesel engine body requires high strength and resistance to thermal fatigue, and is often made of ductile iron or high-strength gray cast iron. Ductile iron is gradually being used as a substitute for cast steel components such as brake beams, axle boxes, and buffers in railway vehicles. Municipal facilities such as manhole covers and rainwater grates on urban roads extensively use gray cast iron or ductile iron components.

In addition, cast iron is used as the basic material for valves, fittings, and pump bodies in pipeline systems, as the material for plows, gearboxes, and frames in agricultural machinery, and as the material for counterweights and bases in construction machinery. It can be said that cast iron components constitute a widely used basic component category in modern industrial manufacturing.
